Drum Making Ceremony

  • Williamsburgh, Brooklyn, NY United States (map)

The drum is a sacred instrument that carries the gift of vibration and rhythm, connecting our hearts with the heartbeat of the Earth and the elements. Central to ceremonies of traditions worldwide, it holds a powerful medicine for healing, meditation, celebration, and prayer.

In this ceremony, Matt and Hillary Canale will guide us in creating our own ceremonial hand drum and teach a unique drum-tying technique.

Participants will be guided from start to finish, first in painting our own drum frame, and then tying our drum and creating a mallet.  Crafting a personal drum by hand is a profound journey to create a nourishing relationship with a ceremonial tool that can last for years to come.

All participants will make a 16” elk hide drum.

*** Due to the lead time associated with ordering materials, participants must register in full for this workshop by Monday, November 18th. ***

As this is a ceremony, please plan to stay till the end of the event out of respect for the container and all the participants.  There will also be a vegetarian potluck for lunch so please bring something to share with the group.  Thank you!

Exchange: $325
Deposit: $100 to @Matthew-canale through Venmo Due by November 18th.
