The cacao ceremony is a sacred gathering created to bring peace and open the heart. It is an ancient practice and a plant deeply revered by the indigenous people of Central America. For the Mayans, cacao is utilized as a rebirthing medicine, helping people release negative emotions and connect to universal love. These ceremonies are made to bring balance, honor the sacred, and encourage a celebration of life. We will use traditional songs and instruments as well as original healing music throughout the ceremony to facilitate this journey of the heart, led by Matt & Hillary.
Preparation for a Cacao Ceremony:
Cacao is a superfood, high in magnesium, iron, zinc, potassium, antioxidants, B-vitamins, and the alkaloid theobromine. It also contains a little caffeine, so we ask that people coming do not drink coffee or any stimulants at least 3 hours before the ceremony. We also ask that people refrain from using drugs or alcohol before or during. And we recommend not eating for a couple hours prior to the ceremony. It is also important to stay hydrated and drink lots of water before and after!
Bring your own water and tea mug. Wear comfortable clothing that allows room for movement. You will not need to bring a yoga mat.
